The trip to Stratford Ecological Center was fantastic. The center is 236 acres and offers: 93 acres of State Nature Preserve, an organic farm, a green houses, a learning center livestock, over 3 miles of hiking trails, and more! Part of the food produced on the farm goes to the local food shelters to help give healthy food to those who can not access it, and the center is run almost solely on volunteer efforts. They also offer guided tours and many workshops; the day we went they had one for soap making. You are also aloud to freely explore the land keeping in mind to be respectful of course, and this is what the four students from Free The Planet as well as Students For Food Sovereignty took advantage of. We plan to make trips back to Stratford in the future and hope to have a large group of students come together to volunteer at the Center soon!
