Headwaters Magazine was founded by Erika Zarowin and Julia Nakad in the fall of 2009 and printed its first issue in March of 2010 with Editor-In-Chief Sam Jewler. Headwaters, Oberlin’s environmental magazine, aims to be not just an environmental magazine, but a tool for the Oberlin environmentalist. Along with articles, op-eds, photography and other art, we include a community contact list in each issue, cataloging environmental groups and upcoming and activists for those seeking to get involved in green activities in and around oberlin. We invite submissions from the Oberlin community. To get involved, please email email@example.com. Tell us about your events, community initiatives, environmental groups or breaking news if you wish to be included in our next issue of the magazine.
At present Headwaters Magazine prints twice a semester and is distributed on Oberlin’s campus and around town. In the coming year we hope to expand Headwaters and begin a collaboration with students at Kenyon College in hopes of eventually becoming a state-wide environmental publication serving colleges and universities across Ohio.
